4-H Therapeutic Riding
Therapeutic Riding
For the last five years, my mom, Vicki, has volunteered at Silverado Stables in Thurmont as part of the Frederick County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program. The TRP teaches horseback riding and provides therapeutic support to individuals with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
Volunteers provide a variety of services, including guidance and support for participants, care and training for horses, and upkeep around the stables and facilities.
One of the program's most popular events is the annual spring horse show, where friends and family members are invited out to watch as the students complete a series of activities organized around that year's chosen theme.
I've photographed this event three times (2014, 2016, 2017) and also visited the stables a number of other times over the years.
