Owl Moon Raptor Center
Rescuing Raptors
Since 2010, my dad, Mike, has used his experience as an arborist to assist the Boyds-based Owl Moon Raptor Center. Owl Moon is a wildlife rehabilitation center led by director Suzanne Shoemaker that specializes in helping birds of prey.
Over the years, Suzanne has called with a variety of birds (screech owls, black-crowned night herons, red-shouldered hawks, etc.) that she has needed assistance with. Sometimes that means rescuing a bird that is trapped somewhere that is otherwise inaccessible, and sometimes it means placing a bird back into its nest (or a makeshift new one) after it's been rehabilitated.
